Remember!!: NO saddle will fit every horse, but an Ortho-Flex "patented" flex-panel system will come as close as you can to doing so. And, with some of the new options, we can do an even better job of fitting your horse than before!

Orthoflex - features to look for in their saddles!!!

Here are some features to look for when considering your saddle purchase:

1. Most of the saddles are now available with an 18"(19.5") and 19"(20.5") seat upgrade and/or our Extra-Tall Fenders and Flaps - named the "Big & Tall" feature.

3. The "Flex-Fit rigging" is available for all our models. This unique, patented, design allows you to position the saddle correctly on the horse's back then, move the cinch ring/girth buckles forward, backward, up and down in order to properly place the cinch/girth in the correct position around the horse. This is a GREAT feature, providing even better saddle-fitting on the horse. Only Ortho-Flex can bring you this patented feature!!!!

4. "Wide" saddles for wide-bodied breeds such as Draft horses are now available in the Calienté, Express Lite, Tempi All Around, Endurance Cutback, Mo Bedda, Premier, Patriot, Patriot Officer's Model & Stitchdown models. The "Wide" saddles are 1-1/2" wider than regular sized saddles.

5. System VI, which provides much greater all-around flexibility, particularly at the withers area and the back edges are now available in several models. Rave reviews have been received during testing on twenty different shapes of short backs.

6. The new System 8XS. Just awesome! Super-flexibility !!!!!!!!

6. "Short & Wide", especially configured for the Morgan horse's characteristics, is HERE! This feature provides shorter panels and a wider tree to fit the unique back of a Morgan horse. Other breeds that benefit from this feature are Arab's and Paso Fino's and even some of those Quarter Horse's.

7. For those of you that have always wanted them - BOOTIES!! are now available for our Western saddles. Booties take the place of your saddle pad and fit over the flex-panels of the Ortho-Flex patented design. They are washable and easy to care for!

8. Bigfoot Stirrups - For folks with well-endowed feet or who need to ride with heavy boots or overshoes.

Why aren't traditional saddles good enough?

Traditional Saddles use a rigid tree made from wood or other synthetic hard materials which are placed directly on the horse's back. This tree is great for the rider because it provides a solid seat for security and, if made correctly, can also be comfortable - for the rider, however the story is much different from the horse's point of view. When this traditional rigid tree is girthed/cinched to the horse it is basically the equivalent of a splint on the horse's spine, not to mention the additional pressure when a rider climbs on! The horse's performance suffers immediately because they will quickly learn to limit their movement to avoid the pressure and pain caused by a solid tree saddle. Traditional saddles also cause pressure points and rubbing problems which lead to saddle soring due to the saddle not allowing free movement for the horse and because traditional saddles generally do not have a large enough surface area to spread the weight of the rider comfortably on the horse's back.

Ortho-Flex Saddles change everything!

Ortho-Flex is a revolutionary patented saddling system, which isolates a traditional rigid saddle tree from the moving horse's back. The Ortho-Flex system incorporates a rigid tree for the rider's comfort and security but isolates it from the horse's back with two flexible panels which contour to fit the horse and flex while riding to allow the horse free movement. The saddle tree never touches the horse with an Ortho-Flex saddle! Never again must a saddle be fitted to a horse. The concealed flexible panels automatically adapt to the shape of the horse.

Ortho-Flex saddles solve the problem of hard to fit horses, in fact Ortho-Flex specializes in high withered, short backed, flat backed and "mutton withered" horses. From Paso Finos and Arabians to Fjords and Percherons an Ortho-Flex saddle will fit them all. In fact, ONE Ortho-Flex saddle could fit them all, try that with a traditional saddle. Generally, all of these horse types, and all sizes in between, can be fit easily due to the way the Ortho-Flex patented "Flex-System" panels contour to the shape of each horse the Ortho-Flex saddle is placed on.

Saddle soring and performance problems are also drastically reduced. The flexible panels of the Ortho-Flex saddles provide three times the weight bearing surface of traditional saddles, which spreads the weight of the saddle and rider over a larger surface area. This reduces the weight per square inch on the horse and distributes this weight more evenly reducing pressure points for the horse. The flex panels also move with the horse while riding. This allows the horse a much greater range of motion and reduces friction caused by the saddle. These features combine to prevent bruising, swelling, dry spots and white hairs seen on horses with improperly fitting saddles. This also allows your horse to perform better and cures saddle resistance problems such as head-tossing, inability to extend, bucking or outright resistance to being saddled and mounted.

Ortho-Flex saddles have been ridden to wins in three Endurance World Championships in a row, European, North American and Southern Germany Championships, as well as numerous wins in smaller competitions. In addition, our English and Western saddles are proving their worth at the highest levels of competition and models have been selected by top riders in all disciplines.
